BXA recognizes 17 official weight divisions for professional boxing. All BXA-sanctioned championship contests must be held at one of the official BXA weight limits. A boxer may only be ranked and hold a title in one weight division at a time.
Weight Division Rules
Weigh-In
• Official BXA weigh-in must take place no more than 30 hours before the contest.
• A boxer who fails to make weight within a BXA-approved tolerance may be disqualified from championship competition.
• Rehydration limits may apply for BXA championship contests.
Weight Management
• BXA promotes safe weight management and may require pre-fight and post-fight weight checks in championship contests.
• Extreme weight cutting that poses medical risk may result in a fighter being declared medically ineligible by the BXA Medical Committee.
Catchweight
• BXA does not recognize catchweight bouts for official title purposes.
• A catchweight bout may be sanctioned as a non-title BXA bout only.
