BXA Officials are responsible for protecting the fairness, safety and credibility of every BXA-sanctioned contest. BXA appoints or approves referees, judges, supervisors and inspectors based on experience, independence, training and performance standards.
BXA Judges — Scoring Criteria
• Clean effective punching
• Effective aggression
• Ring generalship
• Defense
• Control of the round
• Knockdowns and legal scoring blows
All scorecards are subject to post-fight review.
BXA Referees
• Protect both boxers at all times
• Enforce fouls and warnings
• Stop a contest when a boxer cannot intelligently defend himself or herself
• Coordinate with ringside physicians
• Remain neutral and independent
Officials Performance Review
After each BXA-sanctioned championship contest, the Officials Committee reviews scorecards, referee decisions, knockdown rulings, point deductions and stoppages. Officials may be promoted, retained, retrained, suspended or removed based on performance.
